Zach has a few baseball pointers for Nana

Paul and I are in Denver babysitting Zach (5) and Olivia (3) while Kjirsten and Scott take an out trip to northern California. I flew in on May 25 for Zach’s preschool graduation. Paul drove here on June 3; we will drive home together on June 8.

Zach and I were in the back yard taking turns pitching and hitting with a plastic bat and ball. Zach was batting and I was pitching. I did my best to underhand the ball in the strike zone to him, but occasionally Zach would take a mighty swing and miss (though most of the time he would make good contact.) He'd yell, "That's too high, Nana. Why did you throw it over there?"

When it was my turn to bat, sometimes he would throw the ball behind me, but I would turn around and do my best to hit the "inside" pitches so that he wouldn't feel badly that he couldn't always get it over the plate. Needless to say, it was difficult for me to make a 180 degree turn and then hit the ball.

Out of frustration he asked, "Nana, have you ever played baseball before?"
