June 22, 2007 Interim Update
Hi all,
We moved into our new digs about an hour ago. This furnished, 800 ft2, $7,000 per month apartment will be our home for the next 4 months or so.
After putting away clothes and some sundries we brought from the hotel, I thought I'd check out the internet connection. After checking the important stuff at the Minneapolis Star Tribune website, I thought I'd try and get into our blogging site.....again. I had tried a few times from the hotel and everytime I hit the sign-in screen, I'd get the Japanese website which left me, well, lost! A little more persistance today allowed me to utilize the bit of hiragana/katakana I have been learning, and got me at least to our blog. From there it led me to a dropdown menu where I found a link to English. And here we are!
We are heading out to do some grocery shopping and get lunch. Now that I/we can get signed in and navigate the system, we will post more.
Till then, sayonara and I leave you with a night view from our hotel room

And we thought our flat in Novosibirsk cost a lot! Well it does cost a lot, but for a thousand dollars less per month we get twice the space. You guys probably don't have techno-beat music playing all weekend in the park across the street, either. (Arrgghh!) We could use a little John Denver once in a while...
